Iker Casillas wants Arsenal move 0

Various reports in Spain have suggested that Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas hopes to leave los Blancos for Arsenal in the summer transfer window as Keylor Navas looks set to complete a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spain international played second fiddle to Diego Lopez last season and with the Costa Rica star also set to sign, he is no longer prepared to wait for his chances.

According to the latest reports, Arsenal are ready to match his £7.1 million yearly wage and offer him a five-year deal at the Emirates, but only provided they can sign him on a free transfer.

Wenger phones Iker Casillas to try and lure him to the Emirates 0

Catalan daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo has learned that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has gone the extra mile in an attempt to sign Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas from Real Madrid.

The Gunners have been repeatedly linked with los Blancos star and it appears they have made the Spain international their number one target as they look to sign a new shot-stopper to compete with Wojciech Szczesny.

El Mundo Deportivo claims that Arsene Wenger called Casillas personally to try and persuade him to move to North London, with the player reportedly keen on a move to English Premier League.

Who will be Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper this season? 1

With Arsenal having lost Lukasz Fabianki to Swansea City this summer and Emiliano Viviano leaving the club to return to parent side Palermo following last season’s loan spell, who will be Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper for 2014/15?

Poland international Wojciech Szczesny is the club’s number one goalkeeper, and last season he shared the Golden Glove award for mot clean sheets in 2013/14, so it’s very unlikely he will be replaced. Therefore Arsenal need a player willing to sit on the bench as cover.

Arsenal interested in Real legend 0

Arsenal midfield playmaker Santi Cazorla has revealed that the Gunners are interested in Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas. The veteran keeper is a Real Madrid and Spain legend after a trophy-laden career.

Out-of-favour

However, despite his status in Spanish football, Casillas has fallen out-of-favour with the Real management. The 32-year-old had to play second fiddle to Diego Lopez under Jose Mourinho last season and that situation has stayed the same under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

Casillas has been first choice keeper in Real Madrid’s games in the Champions League, but Lopez has been first choice in La Liga. His lack of La Liga action has led to speculation that he could leave the Bernabeu this summer.
