Could Arsenal be about to sign a new striker? 1

Posted on July 27, 2016 by David Nugent

According to reports from France, Arsenal are interested in signing Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder. The 25-year-old is not exactly the high-profile striker Arsenal fans were hoping for this summer.

The Gunners had been linked with the likes Gonzalo Higuain and Alexander Lacazette amongst other forwards this summer.

However, Higuain moved to Italian champions Juventus on Tuesday in a £75.3million deal, while reports persist that the Gunners are still interested in signing Lacazette, whose club Lyon are understandably unwilling to sell the striker.

Who is Wissam Ben Yedder?

Will Arsenal make any more signings this summer? 2

It seems Arsenal is one of the most talked about clubs when it comes to transfer every window. The usual set of rumours is wheeled out as new. Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette all constantly set to sign for the Gunners.

Admission of guilt

All spotted at Euston or Heathrow heading to sign for Arsenal. All these stories are made to sell newspapers and space on websites. I cannot absolve myself from the blame on this issue, as obviously, we speculate about prospective new signings daily.

Olivier Giroud won’t be sold by Arsenal this summer 0

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer with Napoli centre-forward Gonzalo Higuaín said to be in the frame to replace him. However, the French international’s agent Michael Manuello poured cold water on the rumours and insists Giroud will remain in London. Giroud’s representative believes any player brought in will be to cover for Welbeck’s long-term injury, rather than to dethrone Giroud.

Arsenal renew interest in Alexander Lacazette 1

According to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, Arsenal has made further contact with Lyon regarding striker Alexander Lacazette. A fee of around £42million has been mooted for the French international striker.

The journalist also claims that Arsenal has not made contact with Inter over the availability of Argentinian forward Marco Icardi, despite reports to the contrary elsewhere.

Lacazette rumour is years old

Whether there is any truth in this story remains to be seen. The Gunners have been linked with the prolific striker for the last few years. There are two reasons the link persists. One reason is that he is French and the other is that he seems to know where the back of the net is.

Arsenal turn attention to Argentine striker 0

Italian daily newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested that Arsenal are readying big money offer for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

The Gunners appear to have given up hope of signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli as the Azzurri chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is not prepared to lower his €94 million asking price.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Arsene Wenger has made his compatriot Mauro Icardi his number one target and could soon come forward with an official proposal.

The same source claims that the controversial striker will be offered a deal worth €6 million per campaign, while Inter could receive up to €50 million for his services.

Should Arsenal sign Gonzalo Higuain? 0

According to the Evening Standard, 43 per cent of Arsenal fans believe that spending £78.8million on Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain would be a waste of money.

This rumour has been doing the rounds since Higuain was born I think. He and Karim Benzema are two players that the Gunners are constantly linked with. I would not be surprised if I saw a report tomorrow claiming that Higuain was spotted in north London.

A hell of a lot of money

Doubtful Arsene Wenger will make a move for Gonzalo Higuain 0

Posted on July 15, 2016 by David Nugent

According the Evening Standard, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will have to decide to make a move for Gonzalo Higuain in the near future, as Italian champions Juventus are supposedly trailing the striker.

The Argentinian international has a release clause in his contract of an eye-watering £78.8million. Napoli would be unable to stop the striker from leaving if any club activated that release clause, but it looks highly unlikely.

There had been talk of Arsenal attempting to bring the transfer fee down by offering Olivier Giroud in a part-exchange. I doubt that will fly with the men in Naples.

Arsenal to hijack West Ham’s bid for Bacca 0

Posted on July 15, 2016 by Nemanja Lazarevic

Arsenal have made a late attempt to recruit AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca as the Colombian’s proposed move to West Ham has stalled, La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested.

It is perfectly clear that Arsene Wenger is desperate to add a high-quality centre forward to his ranks, and he was heavily criticised for missing out on Vincent Janssen, who joined their bitter rivals Tottenham.

Arsenal fans were also disappointed to hear that AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca was on the verge of moving to West Ham as they believe the Colombian would be avery good addition to the squad at the Emirates, but the latest reports suggest that the Professor shares the same opinion.

Gunners’ interest in signing a world-class striker this summer has taken a spicy twist with Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that Arsenal have prepared a shock summer swap for Napoli star forward Gonzalo Higuain.

Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Argentine international’s talents and is ready to break the bank during the summer transfer window to land Gonzalo Higuain.

In what would be a serious piece of business from Arsene Wenger, Italian media claim that French manager is ready to offer cash plus Olivier Giroud for the 28-year-old Napoli hitman.

It seems that Arsene Wenger has decided to make concrete steps in his attempt to land a world-class striker during the summer transfer window.

After securing a deal for Japanese youngster Takumo Asano, who is seen as future investment, Arsenal manager has focused his attention on signing a high-profile name that can find its place in the starting line-up straight away.

Two names have already been highlighted as possible signings.

Arsenal are interested in former Juventus striker and Spanish international Alvaro Morata, who is thought to be interested in a Premier League move with various clubs interested in bringing the Real Madrid man.
