According to Sport Bild, Arsenal have competition from Barcelona and Manchester United for Leon Goretzka’s signature. Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Schalke midfielder recently and were previously rumoured to have agreed a pre-contract deal. However, such claims turned out to be false.

The German international helped his country win the Confederations Cup in the summer and will be hoping for more opportunities with Joachim Lowe by continuing to impress at club level. Goretzka looks to be running his contract with Schalke without any plans to extend his stay at the Veltins-Arena, so he’ll have a host of suitors in January and next summer.

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted the perennial Bundesliga champions are interested in Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, but admitted the Germans won’t over-pay for the Chilean who is out of contract the following summer. Sanchez is 7/1 to join Bayern this summer but the asking price and reported wage demands could be a stumbling block.

“If an opportunity comes up, the club will be ready. There are lots of rumours. Alexis is a great player but not the only one in the world. I like Alexis. There are possibilities in the transfer market, which can be in many directions,” said Ancelotti, reports the Mirror.

It’s bad news for Arsenal as Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka is expected to remain at the Veltins-Arena next season despite speculation over his future with 12 months left on his current deal. The club’s sporting director Christian Heidel revealed the club’s plans to have Goretzka and Breel Embolo in the side for the upcoming campaign.

“We will go into an exciting season with Breel Embolo and Leon Goretzka,” he said in a recent AGM. Goretzka himself was coy when asked about his future, hinting that he’s open to an exit after this summer’s Confederations Cup. “I’m not going to give state-of-play updates, but if there are facts, I will announce them,” he said.

According to the Independent, Emil Forsberg’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya has spoken out about RB Leipzig fending off interest for the winger this summer, suggesting the Bundesliga club owe it to the player to let him leave amid interest from Arsenal and a host of other sides.

“I and Emil have always accepted the club and the contracts with them. When Emil went there, the ambition was to take the team to the Bundesliga and then the Champions League. He has been involved with them all the way and broke records in their shirt,” he said.

Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign long-term target Julian Draxler from Vfl Wolfsburg in January, with existing wingers Alex Iwobi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling for form on the left this season. Draxler is desperate to leave the Volkswagen Arena next month or in the summer with Wolfsburg embroiled in a relegation battle, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger might be put off with the player’s own struggles this season.

According to IBTimes, Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is a target for German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, his former club. The long-serving central defender has played second fiddle to Laurent Koscielny and new-boy Shkodran Mustafi in the Gunners backline this season and is out of contract in the summer.

With Arsenal not rushing to tie the 32-year-old down to a new deal, Mertesacker may well make his exit in one of the next two transfer windows. Currently sidelined with a knee injury that will keep him out of action until December, Mertesacker hasn’t made an appearance for Arsenal this season and his future looks elsewhere next summer.

Were Arsenal priced out for Omer Toprak this summer? 0

According to the Metro, Arsenal only opted to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi as they weren’t willing to meet the asking price for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Omer Toprak. The highly-rated Bundesliga defender is reportedly available for £40M, but the Gunners instead have opted for a player £5M less in Mustafi after agreeing personal terms.

At one point this summer, it did look like Toprak would the defender coming in as the Mustafi deal stalled over a transfer fee, but now the German international has all but signed ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash. Toprak is three years Mustafi’s senior, but has developed into a top central defender with Leverkusen over the years.

Arsenal target Draxler keen to leave Wolfsburg this summer 0

According to various sources Vfl Wolfsburg winger Julian Draxler is looking to leave the club this summer, and Arsenal are the bookies’ favourite to procure his signature. The 22-year-old impressed for Germany in this summer’s European Championships which has made up for an ineffective Bundesliga campaign with his club, and the Gunners are weighing up a bid for his services.

Draxler signed a five-year deal with Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015, but an 8th-place finish in the league has the winger considering his long-term future. Arsenal have long been linked with his signature but may be forced to stump up around €50M this summer. Draxler scored and created 10 goals in 19 league starts, but made just 19 appearances in a suspension and injury hit campaign.

According to various sources, Arsenal are keen to renew their interest in Germany winger Julian Draxler this summer. The Wolfsburg man is expected to be inundated with offers after impressing for his counter during the 2016 European Championships, and has long been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

The 22-year-old surprised many when he left Schalke 04 to join Wolfsburg, but the rich German Bundesliga outfit haven’t had managed to turn their lucrative spending into success as previously hopes which means the likes of Draxler could look further afield to continue his development with a club of great standing.
