Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat against Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

City took less than two minutes of the game to have a clear opening. The Citizens hit the visitors on the counter-attacking as Raheem Sterling broke at pace, before finding Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian international then played a reverse pass to Sergio Aguero, who from a tight angle inside the penalty area fired just wide of Petr Cech’s post. Arsenal’s first threat of the game came on five minutes, as Alex Iwobi fired well over the bar from distance.

On Sunday afternoon Arsenal and Manchester City go head-to-head at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.

Neither side heads into this clash in great form, but both head into the game on the back of wins in their last outings. Arsenal recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win at Middlesbrough in their last Premier league game, while City won 3-0 at Southampton.

Prior those wins neither side had found any consistency, City had won one of their previous five games in all competitions, while Arsenal had lost four of their last seven games prior to the win at Boro.

On Sunday afternoon Arsenal face a crucial game in the race for the Champions League spots, as they host third-place Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners do not exactly head into this clash in great spirits, having suffered defeat in six of their last nine games in all competitions. Their poor run of form has seen them slip to sixth place in the English top-flight table.

The Gunners could even find themselves seventh by the time this game kicks off, as Everton would leapfrog the home side with a draw at arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime.
