European football expert Julian Laurens believes Arsenal won’t make any new signings until they resolve the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, amid rumours of Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette being high on their wish list this summer.

“He (Lacazette) is the priority, I think nothing can happen without sorting out the Sanchez and Ozil situation, that’s the problem. That’s why I think people at the club are maybe getting a little bit frustrated,” he said to ESPN, reports the Express.

The French international has enjoyed a standout campaign at the Stade Louis II and is coveted by a number of clubs in Europe – Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Scoring 15 goals in 17 Ligue 1 starts for Monaco last season, having led the club to the title and Champions League semi-final. He’s one of many players expected to leave in the next 12 months and Petit hopes Arsenal are the beneficiary. “Mbappe is the leader of this generation,” he said on talkSPORT, reports the Daily Star.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to steal OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri from under the nose of fierce rivals Arsenal this summer. The 25-year-old has attracted interest from AS Roma and Barcelona, but Tottenham are believed to be pursuing the Ivorian heavily and may have edged themselves in front of Arsenal in the race to sign him.

Nice are holding out for £35m, the player’s release clause, and rejected a £20m bid from Roma recently. Seri has enjoyed a standout season at the Allianz Riviera, scoring and creating 16 goals in 34 Ligue 1 games while making 74 chances and boasting 37 successful dribbles (84%). He looks set for a departure this summer as a result but he’s still undecided about a destination.

AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe looks set for a move to La Liga champions Real Madrid after turning down interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City this summer. The French centre-forward has enjoyed a standout campaign in Ligue 1, helping his side to the title, and has been the subject of interest from a host of clubs.

According to the Metro, Real Madrid have won the race to sign Mbappe after Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola failed to convince the teenager to come to the Etihad Stadium. The Monaco striker’s preference has always been Real Madrid but he’s also mindful about how much game time he will be afforded.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has reaffirmed his desire to stay at the Emirates Stadium next season, citing that he wants to help the club win the Premier League title. The French international has fallen down the pecking order under manager Arsene Wenger, making the majority of his top-flight appearances from the substitutes’ bench, but signed a new deal earlier in the campaign and wants to see it out.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed his desire to keep striker Olivier Giroud at the Emirates Stadium this summer, despite rumours suggesting he could return to the French Ligue 1 ahead of the new season. The French international, who has two years remaining on his deal, has been linked with Olympique Marseille, but Wenger has refuted the rumours and issued a “hands-off” warning.

Could Giroud return to France this summer? 0

Posted on February 22, 2017 by Crippy Cooke

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is reportedly being targeted by French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille ahead of a potential move at the end of the season. The Gunners centre-forward has been second-choice in attack this season due to Alexis Sanchez’s fine form in the role, and may consider his future with the Londoners as a result.

While not showing any public discontent in the lack of starts for Arsenal this campaign, Giroud may seek regular playing time with another club as it doesn’t appear he will be getting himself back into the side any time soon. He’s been effective from the substitutes’ bench, however, scoring an impressive 11 goals in all competitions in 2016/17, but reports suggest he’s weighing up his options.

Arsenal have no excuse failing in their bid to sign Lacazette 0

Arsenal’s opening game of the new Premier League begins in one week and the Londoners are still not finished in the transfer market. A recent injury suffered by defender Gabriel Paulista is likely to force Arsenal to sign a centre-back, but the Gunners are still in need of a striker.

Last season’s first-choice centre-forward Olivier Giroud is likely to miss the opening against Liverpool as he’s been given a late summer holiday as a result of his Euro 2016 excursions with finalists France. Danny Welbeck, the natural back-up to Giroud, is out for the rest of the year with a knee injury. As a result, Arsenal need a viable third option.

Mathieu Debuchy to be retained due to Arsenal’s lack of defensive depth 1

Posted on August 04, 2016 by Crippy Cooke

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has been with the first-team throughout pre-season this summer, and after a potential permanent move to Bordeaux fell through, it appears manager Arsene Wenger will retain the full-back to provide cover in the backline.

With centre-back Per Mertesacker sidelined with injury for a number of months, Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista is expected to replace him. Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are alternate options, but don’t have the most experience at the top level.

Debuchy, while having struggled for fitness and form since his 2014-move from Newcastle, has played over 375 games in his career. He may even be considered as potential cover at centre-back should first-choice Laurent Koscielny or Gabriel suffer injury.
