Prediction: Egypt win

Best odds: 17/20

Bookmakers: Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral.

This match unfortunately means nothing in terms of points for either team as they will both travel home after it’s over. The only prize for whoever wins will be regaining a little bit of pride as they both lost their games against both Uruguay and the tournament hosts Russia. Therefore, their respective World Cup adventures end here.

On Monday afternoon, World Cup hosts Russia face Uruguay in Group A, as the pair look to top the group and face a potentially more comfortable tie in the knockout stages of the competition.

Uruguay

Uruguay have won beaten Egypt and Saudi Arabia 1-0 in Group A to seal a knockout spot. However, the South American giants need to win this game to have any chance of finishing top of their group at Russia 2018. Oscar Tabarez’s side were pre-tournament favourites to top the group, but are currently second place.

Verdict: Russia win

Best Odds: 11/10

On Tuesday night, World Cup hosts Russia face Egypt in the Krestovsky Stadium. This clash could be pivotal in who qualifies for the knockout stages of the competition from Group D. A defeat for Egypt is likely to lead to the Pharaoh’s exit from World Cup 2018.

Russia

Russia made a dream start to World Cup 2018 on home soil by recording a sensational 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in their opening game. The win was much needed as it ended a seven-game run without a victory for Stanislav Cherchesov’s team.

Prediction: Both teams to score

Best odds: 5/4

Bookmakers: Paddy Power and Ladbrokes

It’s a tough start for Egypt as they face Uruguay in their first game of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but it shouldn’t be too easy for the South-Americans either. It should be an interesting goalscorer contest between two players that earned high praise in a Liverpool shirt – Mohamed Salah and Luis Suarez. Of course, Suarez has been playing for Barcelona since his move to Catalonia in 2014.

Egypt

The Pharaohs didn’t show particularly great levels of form recently, winning none and losing three of their last five games.

Will Elneny be sold at the end of the season? 0

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been on the periphery all season, spending more time off the pitch than on it, and it appears he’s fallen so out of favour that he could be sold in the summer as things stand. The Egyptian international has made just 10 starts in all competitions this season, his further 11 appearances coming from the bench, and has been an unused substitute on eight occasion.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny looks set to be away on international duty for another week as things stand with Egypt on course to reach the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations. The 24-year-old, who signed from FC Basel in January 2016, has made 11 Premier League appearances for the Gunners this season. He last featured against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day and won’t be returning for Arsenal for a couple of weeks.
