Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Serbian side Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) on Thursday night in the Europa League.

The Gunners did not take long to threaten the visitor’s goal, as within the first minute Theo Walcott found himself in on goal, only for goalkeeper Borjan to come out and pick up the ball.

The home side had the next best chance. Joe Willock’s cross towards Olivier Giroud cleared away to Walcott, whose effort on goal deflected behind for a corner kick.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved on to confirm that Mathieu Debuchy will start Thursday’s Europa League clash against Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade).

The Gunners boss is set to ring several changes in the Arsenal starting line-up and it is Debuchy who will be among the starters tonight, almost a year after picking up an injury 16 minutes into his comeback match against Swansea last November.

The French defender has struggled for regular playing time at Arsenal ever since losing his spot in the team to first-choice right-back Hector Bellerin.

Just when you think that Arsenal are beginning to gain momentum after a poor start to the season, a 2-1 defeat at Watford comes your way to ruin all the hard work.

Lack of composure cost Gunners dearly as Tom Cleverley scored a last-gasp winner to end Arsenal’s seven-match unbeaten run and it is now up to Arsene Wenger to help his men get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

The Europa League distraction might be the perfect opportunity to do so. Arsenal travel to Belgrade to lock horns with Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda who have enjoyed a great run in the competition this year. The Serbian side has played 10 Europa League games this season, suffering a single defeat away to Krasnodar.
