Alexis Sanchez is no doubt Arsenal’s star player, but the situation over his future with the club is now becoming tiresome. The Chilean has just a year left on his contract and there are no signs of him signing a new deal with the Gunners.

Last season Sanchez scored 30 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal. The 28-year-old would be very hard to replace, especially taking into account the fact the Gunners are likely to receive a smaller fee as the months on his contract tick down.

Unwilling to reveal his thoughts

According to ESPNFC.com, Chile are set to risk Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez against Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night.

The former Barcelona star suffered a tear in his hamstring muscle in training just a few days ago. However, the Chile hierarchy are desperate for Sanchez to feature in the vital game, despite the potential of aggravating the injury.

A ‘suicidal decision’

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger described Chile risking the forward in the game as a ‘suicidal decision’ a few days ago. The French boss is speaking a lot of sense. He usually does on these sorts of issues. Surely it cannot be safe to let Sanchez play just a few days after sustaining a muscle tear.

According to Wales Online, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Swansea City due to his international commitments with Chile. The 27-year-old will travel to face Peru early on Thursday morning and will fly back to London in the afternoon/evening, meaning he’ll get one day to train before squaring up against the Swans.

Chile have a must-win World Cup qualifier this week so manager Juan Antonio Pizzi is unlikely to spare such a talismanic player from the squad. Sanchez could well be given a full 90 minutes such is the important of Thursday’s clash with Peru, and with the travel and lack of rest time, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be asking too much of the former Barcelona man to feature on Saturday.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez should line up for Chile in their Copa America Centenario semi-final clash with Colombia at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday morning, and will be hoping to lead the defending champions to the final against Argentina. It could well be a repeat of the 2015 final, which saw Chile beat the Sky Blues on penalties, but the favourites still have a job to do against Colombia this week.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez scored twice as defending champions Chile won 4-2 against Panama to reach the quarter-finals of the Copa America Centenario. His first goal and Chile’s third was the pick of the bunch. It came from a breakaway with hat-trick-chasing Eduardo Vargas squaring a pass on the edge of the box for Sanchez, who volleyed home into the roof of the net.

Sanchez grabbed his second goal with a brilliant accurate header to make it 4-2, sealing the holders’ place in the last-eight. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be delighted with the form of his star forward, but will also be mindful of his physical condition upon his return to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
