Arsenal are big favourites to pick up all three points against Stoke City when the Gunners travel to the Britannia Stadium in Saturday evening’s Premier League clash. Arsenal have started the new Premier League season much more convincingly than their opponents and could find themselves top of the table if results go their way this weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Leicester City in their opening game, while Mark Hughes’ Stoke City side suffered a narrow defeat to Everton. Arsenal have won consecutive games ahead of this evening’s meeting, beating Chelsea in the Community Shield before the Leicester victory, while City can’t stop losing.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels his side are better equipped to deal with Stoke City when the two sides lock horns this weekend, with the backline far more experienced than the youthful defence that lost to the Potters last season. Stoke won 3-2 against Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium back in December, but the Gunners boss blamed an inexperienced backline for the result.

Arsenal recently completed a deal to sign FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and manager Arsene Wenger revealed the Egyptian international will be in the squad to face Stoke City this weekend. He said: “Elneny is available for selection, I haven’t decided yet (whether he will start). I have to see how everyone has recovered. Elneny is a possibility to be in the squad for Sunday.”

Arsenal face a tough trip to Stoke’s Britannia Stadium on Sunday, but it may not be as tough as previous trips to the Potteries. Arsene Wenger’s side have on many occasions been rough-up and beaten by the Potters on their own turf.

Arsenal’s record of just one Premier League win from nine visits to the Britannia Stadium illustrates the Gunners poor displays in the Potteries. However, the days of Arsenal going to Stoke and being kicked-off the pitch may be long gone.
