Basel winger and reported Arsenal target Mohamed Elyounoussi has revealed that he wishes to play in the Premier League and that a big English club has been monitoring his progress. That club is believed to be Arsenal.

The Norwegian international is reportedly valued at £18million by his Swiss club, where he has impressed this season. He has scored seven times and also produced an assist this season for Basel in all competitions.

One of those goals came against Premier League leaders Manchester City in a 2-1 Champions League win at the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal host Stoke at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as the Gunners look to go level on points with leaders Chelsea.

The Gunners have hit a good run of form of late and last time out hammered Swiss team Basel 4-1 in the Champions League. The result meant that Arsene Wenger’s side have now scored nine times in their last two outings, having won 5-1 at West Ham last time out in the Premier League.

The side from north London have lost just one of their last 21 outings in all competitions and suffered their last league defeat on the first weekend of the campaign against Liverpool.

Could Arsenal break their last-16 hoodoo in the Champions League? 0

The last six seasons have been a very similar story for Arsenal in the Champions League. The Gunners finished second in their group then end up being knocked out of the competition in the last-16 of the competition.

The Gunners 4-1 victory at Basel, coupled with PSG failing to beat Bulgarian side Ludogorets has given Arsenal a perfect chance to put right some of the wrongs of the past. Arsenal won their group and it should give them an easier draw in the knockout stages.

Maybe not such a comfortable draw

Arsenal recorded a comfortable 4-1 win against Basel on Tuesday night, as Lucas Perez scored a hat-trick that meant the Gunners finished top of Group A.

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey had the first attempt on goal of the game as he saw a long-range effort deflect behind for a corner kick. The Gunners took the lead with the next attempt on goal on eight minutes.

Alexis Sanchez found Kieran Gibbs and the full-back’s cross was turned in from close range by Lucas Perez. The home side saw an effort from Janko ruled out for offside before the visitors doubled their lead on 16 minutes.

Arsenal travel to Switzerland to take on Basel on Tuesday night in the Champions League, with the Gunners hoping to somehow top Group A.

The home side have a poor record in the Champions League, having not won any of their last seven games in Europe’s elite competition. They currently sit fourth in the group and must better Ludogorets result against French giants PSG.

Their European form has been in contrast to their domestic form, as with the winter break coming up Basel look to be runaway leaders in the Swiss top-flight. However, they did suffer a 3-1 defeat at Young Boys last time out in their domestic campaign.

Arsenal v PSG Champions League Preview 0

Arsenal and PSG clash at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night in a game that could decide the winners of Group A of the Champions League.

Arsenal head into this game on the back of two 1-1 draws in the Premier League, but are well positioned at the top of the group. A victory in this clash would mean that the Gunners would win the group by virtue of a better head-to-head record.

A goalless draw would still leave the north London team top, but then they would have to at least equal PSG’s result in the final match of the group.

Could Theo Walcott really have found consistency? 0

Theo Walcott scored a brace in Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Basel on Wednesday night. It was yet another decent performance and more goals from the inconsistent winger.

The England international has now scored in three consecutive appearances for the Gunners, with a tally of four goals in total in those three appearances.

Mr inconsistent for Arsenal

Theo Walcott has been infuriating inconsistent at times for the Gunners. At times he has been all pace and very little end product to his game. He would often get into a good crossing position and waste his cross.

Arsenal recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Basel at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, as Theo Walcott grabbed a first-half brace to seal maximum points for the Gunners.

The Gunners took the lead with virtually the first real attempt on goal. Alexis Sanchez broke free down the right and cross for Theo Walcott who had the simple task of heading home after rising high to beat his marker in the air.

On 17 minutes the visitors offered their first real threat on goal, as defender Suchy headed over from a corner kick. The Gunners were two up on 26 minutes. Sanchez was involved again as he found Walcott who kept his cool to drill an effort across goal to double the Gunners lead.

Arsenal host Swiss champions Basel at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night on gameweek two of the Champions League.

The Gunners head into this clash in good spirits having dispatched Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates in their last top-flight outing. Once again Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil were on the scoresheet in a superb display from Arsene Wenger’s side.

It seems that Arsenal have found form ,with the north London side now recording three consecutive victories in all competitions, while firing home an impressive 11 goals.

Champions League draw a decent one for Arsenal 0

Posted on August 26, 2016 by David Nugent

Yesterday in my article I talked about how the Gunners could receive a difficult and a very comfortable draw in the Champions League. Well, the side from north London have been drawn in Group A alongside PSG, FC Basel and Ludogorets of Bulgaria in Europe’s elite competition.

For me, that is a decent draw for the Gunners. They have not been drawn with one of the three strongest teams in pot 1 of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich and PSG will be a different proposition this season under Unai Emery.

Need to take the next step in Europe
