Manchester City and Arsenal go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium on as both sides look to cement their places in the Champions League for next season.

Manchester City head into the clash on the back of Champions League heartbreak, as the Citizens suffered a 1-0 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.

The defeat was a major blow to City who were appearing in their first Champions League semi-final. However, the Citizens now need to get back on track in the league, as suddenly the Citizens are looking over their shoulders nervously at neighbours Manchester United, who are four points behind Manuel Pellegrini’s men with an extra game to play.

Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace Premier League preview 0

Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the Premier League campaign.

The Gunners will head into the season in confident mood after a convincing 3-0 victory over champions Manchester City in last weekend’s Community Shield at Wembley. The performance was an impressive one, with goals from Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud sinking the Citizens.

That win came after a busy summer in the transfer market for veteran Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. The Gunners biggest signing of the summer was Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, while the additions of young defender Calum Chambers, Colombian keeper David Ospina and French full-back Mathieu Debuchy all look like very useful signings.

According to Sky Sports, four Premier League clubs are battling out for the signature of Arsenal’s highly-rated young full-back Carl Jenkinson. The 22-year-old looks to be set to slip down the full-back pecking order with the proposed signing of Southampton youngster Calum Chambers.

Competition

Last season Jenkinson had club stalwart Bacary Sagna for competition for that right-back spot. With the Gunners replacing Sagna with Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle and Chambers seemingly heading for the Emirates all of a sudden he finds himself third choice right-back.

According to ITV Football, Newcastle and France full-back Mathieu Debuchy is set to complete his £10million move to Arsenal later today. The move has been mooted for a while and it looks like it will now go through.

Replacement

Debuchy will join the Gunners as a replacement for international teammate Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City on a free transfer. The fact that Debuchy was first choice right-back for France at the World Cup ahead of Sagna illustrates the quality that he possesses.

Newcastle themselves have lined-up a replacement for Debuchy in the shape of Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal could be set to make a move for Southampton’s talented young full-back Calum Chambers. The Gunners are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of France full-back Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle.

Debuchy is likely to replace the now departed Bacary Sagna as first choice right-back for the Gunners, but the north London outfit seem to be ready to sign Chambers as backup to the Frenchman.

Youngster

Chambers is yet another talented young player off the Saints seemingly endless conveyor belt of talent from their academy. The 19-year-old broke into the Saints team last season and started 18 Premier League games for the side from the south coast and also made four substitute appearances.

French daily newspaper L’Equipe understands that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Newcastle over signing French full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The same source has suggested that a €10 million transfer fee has been agreed after the player expressed his desire to leave the Magpies for Arsenal.

The France international is set to sign a five-year deal with the Emirates outfit as he arrives at the club as a long-term replacement for compatriot Bacary Sagna.

The interesting thing is that the two players have been vying for a starting berth in the national team, with Debuchy getting the nod by coach Didier Deschamps at the 2014 World Cup.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have agreed to pay £12million for Newcastle and France full-back Mathieu Debuchy, who is currently away on international duty with France at the World Cup. According to the paper the deal will be concluded when the World Cup has finished.

Speculation

Yesterday I wrote an article about speculation regarding Debuchy and Ivory Coast full-back Serge Aurier, as it seems that they were the two most likely replacements for French international Bacary Sagna at right-back.

According to the Metro, Arsenal is set to launch a big money move of up to £44million for Juventus and Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal. The dynamic midfielder is currently away on international duty with his national team at the World Cup.

Highly-rated

In the last few seasons Vidal has developed a reputation as one of the most highly-rated complete midfielders in world football. The 27-year-old star has been a key component in Juventus’ domination of Serie A over the past few seasons.

Vidal scored 18 goals from midfield in all competitions last season and also provided five assists for his teammates.

Could Sebastien Corchia replace Bacary Sagna? 0

With Arsenal in the market for a talented right-back to replace long-serving Bacary Sagna, who recently left to join Manchester City, could Sochaux fullback Sebastien Corchia be the man to succeed him?

Formerly of Le Mans, the 23-year-old has enjoyed somewhat of a disappointing season with his side succumbing to relegation from the French Ligue One. As a result, he would definitely consider a move away to a higher level if a club would come in for him.

Arsenal may need to move quickly to sign Aurier 0

Posted on June 04, 2014 by David Nugent

Arsenal are looking for a replacement for outgoing right-back Bacary Sagna and Ivory Coast star and Toulouse star Serge Aurier seems to be Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s primary target to fill the void left by Sagna this summer.

However, the Gunners seem to be stalling in completing a deal for the youngster, who will be at this summer’s World Cup with his national team.

Void

Bacary Sagna will leave a pretty hefty void at right-back. The Frenchman has just enjoyed one of his most consistent seasons of his Arsenal career and his experience will be difficult to replace, so the Gunners look to be set to replace the full-back with youth in Aurier.
