Arsenal have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks and months as they look to reinforce their squad with some of their best players set to leave next summer. With this in mind, Barcelona’s Arda Turan has been spotted in London, which has only fuelled speculation surrounding his future.

Arsenal fell to a hugely disappointing defeat at the hands of Manchester United in a thrilling game of football. The 3-1 scoreline was not indicative of the way the two sides played, with the home team well on top throughout the encounter.

La Liga title contenders Barcelona have stepped up the chase for Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.

The Catalans have been informed of the German international’s availability by Arsene Wenger himself, claims Don Balon, and have moved forward to open talks regarding a possible January move.

Wenger is keen to cash in on his wantaway star rather than lose him for free when Ozil’s contract expires at the end of the season and Barcelona are prepared to take advantage of such a situation.

Growing reports that German midfielder Mesut Ozil is on his way out of Arsenal and to his former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United have forced Gunners to make plans in order to replace the influential midfielder.

Mesut Ozil is not getting any closer to signing a new contract extension at the Emirates and it was the Independent who reported that Manchester United are confident of landing the World Cup winner on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Ozil’s departure would leave a gaping hole in Arsenal’s attacking midfielder position and Arsene Wenger will be forced to make a move in the market to find a proper replacement for his team’s biggest star.

According to AS via talkSPORT, Manchester United are interested in Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, a player who has been linked with Arsenal throughout the summer. The 30-year-old is expected to exit the Nou Camp as a result of a lack of playing time and Jose Mourinho is reportedly offering Turan a chance to resurrect his career elsewhere in Europe.

Former club Galatasaray are also believed to be keen on the ex-Atletico Madrid attacking-midfielder, but Manchester United might be considering Turan as they’ve so far struggled to land Ivan Perisic. Turan, while not boasting excessive pace on the wing, is a creative midfielder who can play somewhat in between the lines. It’s why Arsenal were interested but so far no deal has materialised from any suitor.

According to reports from Turkish newspaper AMK, Barcelona’s Turkish midfielder Arda Turan is interesting Arsenal. In fact, the reports suggest that the Gunners are set to make a bid of around £26million for the former Atletico Madrid star.

The Turkish international has failed to have a major impact since his arrival in 2015. He is considered by many in Catalonia to have flopped at the Spanish giants, as he has failed to nail down a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp.

Would Wenger really pay £26million Turan?

Encouraging piece of news is coming from Turkey, with reports claiming that Barcelona star Arda Turan is close to signing for Arsenal.

The 30-year-old had been linked with a move to the Emirates before he even joined Barcelona and the player himself spoke in high regard of the north London club on several occasions in the past.

Creative midfielder has endured a frustrating spell at the Spanish giants and was reportedly given the green light to leave Camp Nou in order to get his career back on track.

Some encouraging transfer reports are coming from Turkey in relation to Arsenal’s long-term target Arda Turan.

The Turkish playmaker is reportedly set to be offloaded by Barcelona in what is expected to be a summer overhaul at the Spanish club and the Gunners are prepared to take advantage of such a development.

The Catalans have been kicked out of the Champions League quarterfinals at the hands of Juventus and are heading toward what is likely to become a rather disappointing closure to the season.

According to Goal, Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan will remain at the Nou Camp, as per his agent Ahmed Bulut: “No, I haven’t heard anything from Arsenal. Arda will be staying at Barcelona.” The former Atletico Madrid man ensured a difficult debut season with the Catalans and found himself largely on the periphery.

The 29-year-old made 18 league appearances for Barcelona last season, but racked up just 816 minutes (45 minutes per game). Turan was either brought off early in the second-half of games he started, or introduced late in the second-half from the bench. Nevertheless, he doesn’t appear keen for an exit this summer.

The same source has suggested that the Gunners have submitted an official proposal for the Turkey star as Barcelona reportedly look to offload the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund and former club Galatasaray are in the mix as well, with the Turkish giants offering £17 million for his services.

Just a year after his €40 million transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona, Arda Turan has found himself out of favour and out of grace at Camp Nou, heading to an exit door in what would be an utterly disappointing piece of business for both the player and the club.

Turkey international was forced to wait for his Barcelona debut for almost six months as Barcelona were hit by a FIFA transfer ban and a 28-year-old attacking midfielder showed great desire and commitment to his Barcelona cause.
