Arsenal’s 12-match winning run at home in the Premier League ended on Saturday evening, as Arsene Wenger’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat by second-place Manchester United.

The Red Devils took the lead with the first real attempt on goal on four minutes. Antonio Valencia played a one-two with Paul Pogba before the Ecuadorian fired a low effort past Petr Cech.

Alexis Sanchez fired a free-kick straight at the United wall on nine minutes from 25 yards before United doubled their lead two minutes later.

Jesse Lingard dispossessed Shkodran Mustafi. Romelu Lukaku then found Anthony Martial, who flicks the ball to Lingard and the winger steered the ball past Cech.

Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United on Saturday was disappointing to say the least. The Gunners dominated for long periods of the game, but the visitors hit them on the counter-attack with devastating effect.

Defence

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that he was annoyed by his teams lax defending. I am sure the majority of Gunners fans would agree with the veteran Frenchman.

However, Wenger can do something about it, the fans cannot. Arsenal looked vulnerable to the counter-attack against United and that is what led to the two goals.

Manchester United defeat Arsenal at the Emirates 2

Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with an own goal from Kieran Gibbs and a Wayne Rooney goal enough to clinch maximum points for the Red Devils. Substitute Olivier Giroud scored a goal in stoppage-time, but the strike meant very little in the end.

The first attempt on goal came on five minutes, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain played in Danny Welbeck, but the former-United striker saw his effort deflected wide by centre-back Paddy McNair. Per Mertesacker then headed well wide of goal from the resulting corner kick.
