The protracted Alexis Sanchez transfer saga has rumbled on for so long that it is difficult to remember a time when his future was not being discussed.

It has been reported in the last few days that Manchester United now lead the race for his signature, with Manchester City supposedly unwilling to pay the amount that Arsenal have asked for.

United are reportedly happy to do so, while a proposed deal seeing money and Henrikh Mkhitaryan going to Arsenal in exchange for Sanchez has been the talk of the back pages.

Arsenal reportedly want to exchange wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez for Manchester United Anthony Martial. The Chilean attacker has arisen as a reported main-target for United with Manchester City’s interest waning after the Gunners outlined their demands for the player.

Arsenal were forced to stomach a damaging loss at the hands of struggling Bournemouth on Sunday as their Premier League campaign took yet another body-blow. Hector Bellerin opened the scoring, but the visitors could not hold onto their lead as Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe struck to take all three points for the relegation-threatened side.

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, but not to Arsenal, according to Sky Italia via Football365. The French international struggled for form last season and looked to be on his way out of the club as a result. Arsenal were heavily linked, but now Inter Milan are the latest side in the race for his signature.

The player’s cousin, who is a journalist based in Paris, said on the rumours: “I can confirm Inter’s interest in Anthony. However, he’s focusing solely on Manchester United. His thoughts are fixated on pre-season with United.” Martial, 21, scored just four Premier League goals in 25 appearances in 2016/17, finding himself out of the matchday squad too often.

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial responded to the news of his alleged transfer request this summer, claiming talk of him asking to leave the club to join Arsenal is “false. Reports came out early in the morning that Martial spoke to his manager to push for a move to Arsenal this summer. But it appears such claims weren’t true.

The 21-year-old, who signed from AS Monaco for £26m in 2015, nevertheless endured a difficult season at United. Martial lost his starting place in the side and was singled out for criticism by manager Jose Mourinho as a result of his inconsistency.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay around £40million for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Mail.

Any move for the young Frenchman will depend on whether the Gunners can nab Monaco’s star striker Kylian Mbappe, which seems unlikely as most of Europe’s top teams are interested in signing the wonderkid.

Out of favour at United

Martial has not quite lived up to his potential since arriving at the club from Monaco in the summer of 2015 for a fee that could eventually reach an eye-watering £57.6 million.

Arsenal claimed a crucial 3-0 victory over top four rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, as Alexis Sanchez grabbed a brace and Mesut Ozil scored in the first 20 minutes.

Arsenal took the lead with the first real attempt on goal on six minutes. Mesut Ozil put in a cross and Alexis Sanchez produced a superb back-heeled finish. Less than a minute later and the Gunners doubled their lead.

Ozil put Theo Walcott through on goal. The striker cut back inside and returned the ball to the German international, who slotted home past the helpless David de Gea in the United goal.

Dream Champions League tie turns into a nightmare for Arsenal 1

Arsenal’s so called ‘dream draw’ in the last-16 of the Champions League turned into a nightmare, as French side Monaco came to the Emirates Stadium and grabbed a 3-1 win on Wednesday night in the first leg of the tie. It was a terrible night for Arsene Wenger’s side against one of the Frenchman’s former-clubs.

I doubt many fans saw this coming, even Monaco fans. The Ligue One outfit are a team who regularly keep clean sheets, but do not score many goals. In all six of their Champions League group games they scored just four goals, yet they raised their game to fire home three goals in north London.

The Gunners had an early effort on goal, as Danny Welbeck fired wide of goal from inside the area, after French midfielder Francis Coquelin had found the forward with a clipped ball over the top.

Arsenal then dominated possession for a period, without creating any clear-cut chances until the 24rd minute, as Olivier Giroud’s header from a Santi Cazorla corner deflected wide of goal.

The next attempt on goal did not come until 33 minutes, as Alexis Sanchez fired over from inside the penalty area after Mesut Ozil found the Chilean. On 36 minutes the Gunners broke again. This time Hector Bellerin broke down the wing strode forward and found Giroud in the area, who fired over the bar.
