Arsenal’s squad currently has a bit of dead wood lying around. These players never were and never will be good enough for where the Gunners want to be. One of these players is French full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

According to TalkSPORT and L’Equipe, Arsenal may well be about to offload the full-back to French club Marseille. The Ligue One club are reportedly interested in signing the 32-year-old on a free transfer, although the defender still has two years left on his contract.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal might have to consider selling midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if they can’t offload the deadwood this summer. Chelsea have been linked with the 24-year-old’s signature and are reportedly close to a completing a deal. The Ox’s dead expires in 12 months and has rejected a contract extension.

Manager Arsene Wenger has been keen to keep the England international but may need to cash in while he has value as the London club have been unable to sell their unwanted players from the squad. The likes of Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Perez are believed to be up for sale but aren’t shifting this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking to hijack Liverpool’s deal to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer and may bid £25m for the Englishman’s signature. The Blues have struggled to strengthen the squad as much as manager Antonio Conte wanted, which sees Chelsea desperately targeting homegrown midfield reinforcements as a result.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract at Arsenal in 12 months and has so far rejected a contract extension. The 23-year-old is believed to be frustrated with a lack of playing time in his favourite position for Arsenal while playing second fiddle to the competition. When featured as a wing-back, Hector Bellerin remained first-choice. And when played in midfield, Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey remained first-choice.

Arsenal fans enjoyed a successful weekend as their club claimed the Community Shield trophy to head into the new season the best way possible.

The excitement is poised to be short-lived, however, with growing reports claiming that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is nearing a Liverpool move.

The Ox played the entire Community Shield final against Chelsea down the left-hand side, which basically is the same role he performed during the FA Cup final. Arsene Wenger used the England international in a number of roles over the course of last season which was said to have frustrated the player who is now looking towards the exit door.

Arsenal contract issue an ideal situation, says Wenger 0

According to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, the Gunners current situation with a number of players contracts expiring in 12 months’ time is ‘an ideal situation’.

Players including Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Santi Cazorla are all in the last 12 months of their deals with the north London club.

Obviously, the most well-publicised player on that list is Sanchez, who Wenger insists is staying at the club despite doubts over his future. The Chilean and Ozil have both turned down offers of lucrative new contracts in north London.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he “100% expects” midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at the Emirates Stadium for at least one more season, despite rumours of a £25m bid from Liverpool, reports The Sun. The England midfielder will be out of contract next summer and is reportedly keen to switch to Merseyside as manager Jurgen Klopp greatly admires him as a player.

Wenger, however, is not so sure. “100% expect him to stay, no matter what happens he will stay,” he said. Oxlade-Chamberlain was impressive for Arsenal last season. He made 29 Premier League appearances, scoring and creating nine goals, featuring at right wing-back, left wing-back, central midfield, left-wing and right-wing.

According to the Metro and journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are interested in signing Chelsea defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic in a swap deal involving England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Matic is seemingly in-demand this summer, with the likes of Juventus, Inter and Manchester United reportedly hoping to sign the Serbian star. However, it seems Arsenal have now emerged as a very viable destination for the 28-year-old.

The former Benfica star may find himself pushed down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues are reported to be close to signing Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko. He is believed to be looking for an escape route from the English champions.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has his pick of clubs this summer, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly keen on his signature. The England international, who has just 12 months left on his current deal, looks set to leave Arsenal as a result of a lack of playing time in his favourite position, but where will he go?

Liverpool still lead the race for the midfielder, with manager Jurgen Klopp a big fan of Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Arsenal player’s industry and creativity would see him fit into the Reds side and be a useful player for their Champions League campaign in 2017/18. And with Arsenal out of the prestigious competition, while having reportedly not offered a formal deal to the 23-year-old, it’s hard to see him remaining at the Emirates Stadium.
