Two Arsenal players appeared in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday night. In truth it was an underwhelming display by the Three Lions and the game was only won by a superb piece of individual skill from Southampton substitute Adam Lallana, who set up Daniel Sturridge for the only goal of the game.

Pair

The two Gunners players on display for England were midfield pair Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Neither did their cause for a place in the Three Lions World Cup much good.

The home side started the game in a bright manner. The Saints had the first real chance of the game on just five minutes. Midfielder Adam Lallana was left completely unmarked from a corner, but the England international saw his header cleared away. On seven minutes full-back Luke Shaw crossed from the left and young Saints striker Sam Gallagher fired wide of the near post.
