La Liga runners-up Real Madrid are set to step up their interest to sign Arsenal transfer target Luis Suarez.
Following the departure of striker Gonzalo Higuain to Serie A side Napoli, the Spanish outfit have been in the market for his replacement and regard Liverpool’s top goalscorer as the perfect choice.
Upon signing for the Merseyside outfit in 2011, Suarez has scored 51 goals in 96 games. He’s netted 34 goals in 66 matches for the Uruguayan national team.
Real Madrid currently only have Karim Benzema as their senior striker in the side, and manager Carlo Ancelotti has openly admitted he wants to bring in two new faces.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently revealed he wasn’t rushing to sign Luis Suarez following the side having their £40M + £1 bid rejected by Liverpool.
‘We are ready to do quick deals, but all the transfers do not depend only on us. We are prepared to wait. It’s very difficult to get in touch with people.’
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his desire to keep the striker at the club, and won’t accept a bid less than the reported asking price.
Real Madrid and Arsenal will be forced to make a bid of around £55M if they wish to procure Luis Suarez’ signature this summer.
