Petr Cech has lamented Arsenal’s missed chances after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham in the early kick-off in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s revival was a brief one as they fell to another defeat at the weekend. In their previous game they had dismantled Everton in a 5-1 win as Aaron Ramsey bagged a hat-trick before Laurent Koscielny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed the scoring.
However, on Saturday it was Harry Kane that made the headlines as he netted the only goal to give Tottenham a massive victory over their rivals. More importantly than just defeating their opponents, Spurs were able to stretch the gap over the sixth-placed Gunners to a massive seven points, with Arsenal’s Champions League hopes now in tatters.
The Gunners are edging closer to a situation in which they will have to be near flawless in the league as the side above them continue to pick up points. Arsenal have continually missed chances to close the gap on the sides above them much in the same way they were profligate in their match against Tottenham.
On the subject of being wasteful, Petr Cech lamented their missed chances as he told the Metro: “In this type of game you need to take your chances, and I know we had two at the end. But unfortunately we did not take them”.
Alexandre Lacazette missed two big chances in the closing stages as the Frenchman’s struggles in front of goal continued. Had he netted one of the two efforts, then the Gunners position in the table would be less precarious.
