The Telegraph has learned that Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts is being linked with a summer switch to the Emirates. Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the talented attacker and could step up their interest at the end of the season.
While the Gunners desperately need to reinforce the squad if they are to challenge for honours next season, club official are clearly thinking about future as well, as witnessed by their interest in the Fulham starlet.
Club scouts have been alerted of the player’s potential a while back and they have been impressed with his recent performances. According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are seriously thinking about recruiting the talented forward in the summer.
Having come through the youth ranks at Fulham, Roberts was recently promoted to the first team set-up and has already made two Premier League appearances, having come as a second half substitute in matches against Manchester City and Everton.
The player has also impressed playing for England Under-17 side, scoring three goals in as many appearances, while he has been appearing for Fulham Under-18s and Under-21s of late.
Shortly after turning 17, Roberts signed his first professional contract with the club that ties him down until June 2016, meaning Arsenal will have to splash the cash if they plan to lure him to the Emirates.
Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all reportedly keeping close tabs on the talented youngster, but Arsenal do seem to have the upper hand at the moment.
