Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil admitted his stay at the Emirates Stadium could depend on whether the club finish in a Champions League spot or not this season. The German international has stalled contract talks with the Gunners, reportedly rejecting £280K-a-week offered from the club but says he will wait until the summer before making a decision, waiting for their final standing in the Premier League before committing his future or requesting a move.
“I can’t say today what will happen in the future. In the summer we’ll definitely talk. Football is my priority, we have aims with the team to reach the Champions League. In the summer there’s enough time to talk about other things,”Ozil said. The 2014 World Cup winner was grateful from the treatment of the supporters and did admit he’s enjoyed being at Arsenal.
“It makes me happy, that the fans support me, that my team-mates and the club support me. I’m very happy. I have a connection with the club. I love London, it’s great to live here. Arsenal are 11/4 to finish in the Premier League top-four this season but they have a mountain to climb with seven points to make up at the business end of the campaign. There current plight could well factor in Ozil’s decision.
