Fans and critics alike have questioned the ability of the men that have led the line for Arsenal in recent years as they have been apparently crying out for a top quality striker.
Indeed, the fans have had to remain contented as Tottenham have seen the rise of Harry Kane, while Chelsea have recently switched between two world-class strikers in Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata.
Arsenal recently brought in French striker Alexandre Lacazette and the early indications are that he will become a very good player, but he needs time to properly adjust to the physical nature of the Premier League.
This has meant that Olivier Giroud has mostly been able to maintain his place up-front for the Gunners, with the forward continuing to stake his claim for the place as the club’s undisputed front-man.
His goal against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday evening will only help to solidify this claim, as he scored yet another sublime goal for the Gunners. With Arsenal struggling to score in their Europa League game, they needed a moment of magic, and it came via a looping overhead kick that found its way into the top corner.
It means that Giroud has added yet another outstanding goal to his repertoire of outrageous finishes, the best of which came against Crystal Palace as his scorpion kick flew into the back of the net. While the Frenchman may not be regarded in the same bracket as the likes of Kane and Morata, he does have an uncanny ability of scoring some truly sublime goals.
