Olivier Giroud is frustrated by the fact he has not nailed down a starting place

Posted on November 30, 2017 by Ben Darvill

Arsenal were able to hammer Huddersfield in a convincing 5-0 win on Wednesday evening as they maintained their impressive form. Olivier Giroud starred in the win, but he was brought on from the bench, and his bit-part role is frustrating him.

Following wins over Tottenham and Burnley, Arsenal’s hammering of Huddersfield was the perfect way for the side to maintain their outstanding run in the Premier League.

Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, and a double from Olivier Giroud were more than enough for Arsene Wenger’s men to take all three points. The victory has allowed the side to consolidate their place in the table, as they are now two points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool, while they are just a point behind Chelsea in third.

Considering they were in a mini-crisis only a few weeks ago, their current form and position in the table would suggest that they have hit back in superb style.

However, things have not been perfect for the side as, following their win, it has become clear that Olivier Giroud is not contented with his role in the team this season. Lacazette has come in and he is the first-choice striker for Wenger, with Giroud relegated to the bench.

The Mirror have reported that Giroud admitted: “Yeah [it’s frustrating] because we are competitors and we want to play every single game to help the team win”.

“We want to be on the pitch, we are all competitors so that is it. At the moment the Premier League team is doing well.

“We have the chance to have two good teams because we have got a good squad and everyone tries to step up and give his best for the team. We are enjoying playing together in Europe but obviously we all want to play in the Premier League as well so when the boss wants to put us on the pitch we try to give our best and bring our small cog to the big machine’.
