According to the Gazzetta dello Sport via talkSPORT, Arsenal and Liverpool have competition for AS Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, with Napoli entering the race for his signature.
The 32-year-old is first-choice between the sticks at the Stade Louis II, coming off the back of winning the Ligue 1 title with Monaco last season, and could be the subject of a number of offers in the January transfer window. Napoli are looking to replace Pepe Reina and are keen on the Croatian international, so say such reports from Italy.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been loosely in the market for a goalkeeper this summer too, with the Gunners prepared to lose David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez months previously. Martinez was eventually loaned out, while Ospina was convinced to stay, but the Colombian may not last another 12 months at the club. And with Petr Cech’s form being suspect for Arsenal, Subasic might be the perfect replacement.
As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s men have Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius fighting for a first-team spot, but were believed to be considering bringing in another shot-stopper at the end of last season. However, Klopp has since played down talk of needing a shot-stopper, potentially leaving Arsenal and Napoli fighting it out for the 32-year-old’s signature.
