One of Arsenal’s most important summer targets sent a mixed signal in the press, leaving a lot of room for interpretation.
Montpellier’s midfielder Younes Belhanda seems settled in at Montpellier, but he would seem extremely interested in a potential summer move away from the French Ligue 1. Wenger’s interest in the midfielder was made public by the French manager who spoke about his amazing skills in a press conference earlier this year, and newspapers have been linking the two parties ever since.
According to the French press Belhanda wouldn’t mind staying at Montpellier, but his statements led us to believe he would much rather make the move to Arsenal.
“I still have two years left on my contract and if the president does not want to sell me, I have no problem staying at Montpellier.”
The 22-year-old Morocco international scored twice in the midweek derby against Marseille, while the other Arsenal target Olivier Giroud also put his name on the score board. Whether Wenger will make a move for either of the two very talented footballers, or perhaps for both of them, it remains to be seen, but skills like theirs would be welcomed at Arsenal.
