Midweek Transfer Roundup: Karim Benzema & Christian Pulisic Lead the Line

Posted on September 27, 2017 by Milos Markovic

Beneath all the moaning about that long trip east for the Europa League clash against BATE Borisov this Thursday, we bring you a story or two to lift your spirits and put an exciting twist to otherwise uneventful Wednesday for our beloved club.

Gunners head out to Belarus looking to grab their second victory in Group H at the Borisov Arena leaving us with nothing but rumours to work with.

We’ll take it, of course, and here’s what you can expect to come across while reading through today’s papers.

Karim Benzema – AGAIN!

The French striker Karim Benzema might not be in his best form but that did not stop Real Madrid from offering their forward a new deal that is supposed to keep him at Santiago Bernabeu until 2021.

The Spanish media outlet Don Balon believe, however, this was nothing but a marketing stunt to raise the fee Los Blancos are hoping to get for the Frenchman at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the French international and has always wanted him at the Emirates and is apparently lining up a summer swoop for the player who is expected to be a replacement and an upgrade to Olivier Giroud.

Benzema is currently nurturing his left leg injury which limited his playing time to no more than just three appearances this season.

The Frenchman is yet to open his goal tally this year.

Christian Pulisic – Tough Competition

Liverpool target and an emerging Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic has been the talk of the town in Germany this season.

The 19-year-old boy who left his home back in the United States to come to Europe and live his dream has stepped under the limelight and is currently enjoying a fantastic season with BVB.

Two goals in 6 Bundesliga appearance don’t do justice to Pulisic’s influential performances which gained plenty of attention around Europe.

Real Madrid, Tottenham and ourselves seem to be the latest to join the line for the exciting midfielder whose contract with BVB runs until 2020.

Pitted against our Premier League rivals we might stand a chance to grab the USA talent, but Real Madrid are likely to be of greatest appeal to the teenager should such an opportunity arise at the end of the season however.
