Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved on to confirm that Mathieu Debuchy will start Thursday’s Europa League clash against Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade).
The Gunners boss is set to ring several changes in the Arsenal starting line-up and it is Debuchy who will be among the starters tonight, almost a year after picking up an injury 16 minutes into his comeback match against Swansea last November.
The French defender has struggled for regular playing time at Arsenal ever since losing his spot in the team to first-choice right-back Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal have made several attempts to part ways with Debuchy who got frozen out of the first team frame at the Emirates but with Gunners facing an injury crisis the 32-year-old will be reintroduced to the team for the Thursday match.
“He has not played for a long time because every time he was close to coming back he was injured again. “He will certainly start tomorrow.”, Wenger said in a press conference ahead of the clash with Red Star.
Debuchy is expected to start alongside Rob Holding and Mohamed Elneny in a back three, although there is a possibility young Josh Dasilva could be handed a surprising starting berth in Belgrade.
Arsenal are available at 4/5 betting odds to claim three points in Belgrade tonight.
