According to AS via talkSPORT, Manchester United are interested in Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, a player who has been linked with Arsenal throughout the summer. The 30-year-old is expected to exit the Nou Camp as a result of a lack of playing time and Jose Mourinho is reportedly offering Turan a chance to resurrect his career elsewhere in Europe.
Former club Galatasaray are also believed to be keen on the ex-Atletico Madrid attacking-midfielder, but Manchester United might be considering Turan as they’ve so far struggled to land Ivan Perisic. Turan, while not boasting excessive pace on the wing, is a creative midfielder who can play somewhat in between the lines. It’s why Arsenal were interested but so far no deal has materialised from any suitor.
The former Turkey international made just 14 La Liga starts for Barcelona, albeit impressively scoring and creating six goals and a further five in the Champions League. With Neymar having joined Paris Saint-Germain, there’s a chance Barcelona might have more of a need for Turan in the side, although the player is believed to be keen for a move away.
Galatasaray, Turan’s home between 2000-2011, are said to be the favourites to land the midfielder, but Arsenal might just be keeping tabs if they can offload some of the deadwood. They also have a decision to make on Jack Wilshere, who only recently returned from a leg fracture. Santi Cazorla also has injury problems and may not be trusted over a full season.
