According to The Sun, Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is willing to snub interest from Italian Serie A side AS Roma to push for his Arsenal move. The Algerian international has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium for 12 months, having been the subject of interest from Arsenal last summer, and could be on his way to London if latest reports are to be believed.
Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare did recently admit, however, that Arsenal were yet to make a bid for Mahrez. He also revealed the club did reject an under value offer from Roma. With the player having been keen to join Arsenal after his outstanding 2015/16 season that saw the Foxes win an unlikely Premier League title, the Gunners are still in the driving seat.
City have slapped a £35m on the player’s head, who’s handed in a transfer request this summer and told the club he’s keen to leave, but still he’s no closer to securing a big-money deal. Arsenal are considering Mahrez and AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar ahead of the new season and may sign the Algerian if they fail to sign the French international. Arsenal are 10/3 to sign Mahrez this summer.
