Liverpool are reportedly prepared to match Jack Wilshere’s current contract with fellow Premier League side Arsenal as Jurgen Klopp’s Reds try to lure the English-midfielder away from London.
The Emirates Stadium was treated to a feast of attacking football on Saturday as Arsenal returned to winning ways with a superb performance. Everton were blown away in a 5-1 win for the Gunners as they displayed their immense attacking ability.
Aaron Ramsey was the hero as he struck a hat-trick, while Laurent Koscielny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed the scoring on a day of outstanding home debuts with Henrikh Mkhitaryan shining and picking up a number of assists.
The one blight on their copybook was the injury to Petr Cech, but other than that, it was a superb day for the Gunners with the attacking portion of their team in fine form.
One man that has been vital to their rejuvenation has been midfielder Jack Wilshere, with his bustling displays drawing widespread praise. However, it has been reported by The Sun that he is drawing interest from a Premier League rival, with Liverpool keen on securing his services.
The Sun reported that he is keen on remaining with Arsenal, but no new contract has been agreed, and he may yet be swayed by interest from Liverpool who would be happy to match his current £90,000-a-week deal.
Midfielder Emre Can is widely expected to leave at the end of the season, and perhaps Wilshere is the Red’s preferred option to replace the German.
