According to the Express, Arsenal forward Joel Campbell looks set for another loan move away from the club. Reports are suggesting Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon will be the destination for the Costa Rican as game time hasn’t been guaranteed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Campbell broke through in the first-team last season, making 19 Premier League appearances, scoring and creating five goals, but he’s been omitted from the squad this campaign. His performances were promising for a time in 2015/16, and with Arsenal short on attacking options, it will bemuse many supporters why Campbell has once again not been retained.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal in 2011, but has never managed to cement a place in the first-team for the long term. Campbell has been loaned out to Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Villarreal, but still hasn’t done enough to convince Wenger he’s worth keeping. However, the Arsenal boss still won’t sell him.
Joel Campbell has pace and power in the final third, and provides a goal threat on the right-wing, as he likes to cut inside on his stronger left foot. Such movement gives right-back Hector Bellerin the space to get forward and provide the width, while giving Arsenal another attacker in and around the box in Campbell.
But it appears Sporting Lisbon will be the beneficiaries of the talented Costa Rican for the 2016/17 season.
