Inter Milan summer recruit Yann Karamoh claims Premier League club Arsenal wanted to sign him prior his loan move to Serie A.
Former Caen forward joined Nerazzurri on deadline day this summer in a transfer arrangement which will make his loan move permanent after two campaigns.
The 19-year-old is coming off from a breakthrough season in Ligue 1 during which he scored five goals and managed four assists in 36 competitive outings. Despite the tender age, Karamoh earned his place in the starting line-up at Caen thanks to his emerging qualities that got him on the radar of the host of European big sides last term.
Naturally a winger operating on the right side of the pitch, Yann Karamoh is equally apt to operate across a number of positions in the attacking third. He can be successfully deployed as a striker, secondary striker and even a left-winger. It was exactly his versatility that made him such a popular choice and a wanted commodity this summer.
Karamoh’s style of play is exciting to watch as he’s a player who enjoys one-on-one situations and one-two passes with teammates. The technically gifted player likes to dribble and cuts inside from the right before firing towards goal.
The 19-year-old’s qualities make him a perfect fit for Arsenal and it can hardly come as a surprise to learn Arsene Wenger wanted to land this exciting youngster.
Karamoh claims Arsenal were only one of the clubs interested in his services but adds he made the right choice to join Inter Milan.
“It’s important that Inter are betting on me. PSG were waiting to make a move for me, and Arsenal contacted my agents. There was also interest from Monaco and Lyon but I decided to come here.” Karamoh told Premium Sport.
Arsenal get back in action following the international break with a match against Bournemouth this Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners haven’t had the best of starts to the new season, having collected only three points from as many matches which put them in 16th place in the standings.
Wenger’s men are nevertheless seen as firm favourites to grab three points this weekend. There is little value to be found if you were planning to bet on the hosts, but we handpicked an 8/5 price on Arsenal to win to Nil which we think is the right choice for the clash.
