Hector Bellerin has claimed that Mesut Ozil can be like a new signing for Arsenal after the German put pen to paper on an extension to his deal with the Premier League club putting an end to the speculation surrounding his future.
Arsenal were in fine form on Saturday as they dismantled Everton in a 5-1 win. The Toffees were no match for the Gunners as they were not given a chance to get into the match. Aaron Ramsey struck a hat-trick, while Laurent Koscielny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded off the scoring.
Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan impressed on their home debuts as they gave Arsenal’s fans something to celebrate after the London side had fallen to an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea in the game before.
It seems as though the attacking signings that Arsene Wenger made has had a huge effect on the side as they scored five times after looking blunt going forward in the games prior to Saturday. While the debutants were superb, Mesut Ozil was also very good throughout the match.
The German has recently signed a new contract with the London club and he will be raring to help his side go after he put rumours about his future to rest. Hector Bellerin seems to think that Ozil’s new contract will only help the side and it will be like a new signing.
Bellerin is reported by the Mirror to have said: “Everyone in the training ground and everyone in the team knew he was going to stay. He’s a guy who loves London, loves Arsenal and he gets really angry when things don’t go well so you know how much it means to him”.
“We know how much it means for him to win or to lose for this club. So everyone in the dressing room was sure. It’s as exciting as a new signing to have a player with his qualities and all he brings to the team to sign for a few more years it is really exciting for us and for the fans”.
Ozil’s contract extension will have been music to Wenger’s ears while the fans will hope that his new deal will see the German return to the top of his game. Ozil will be hoping that Arsenal’s newfound attacking-prowess will be on full show when they face Tottenham in their next game.
