Hector Bellerin has claimed Arsenal’s win over Tottenham in the Premier League helped them to ‘shut some mouth’ after Arsene Wenger and his side had come in for heavy criticism in recent weeks.
Arsenal’s win over Tottenham was a huge reminder of the ability of the side as they consummately beat Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.
The 2-0 scoreline flattered Spurs as they were outplayed throughout the entirety of the game, with Arsene Wenger’s men easily coasting to three points. Goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez were enough for the home side who have revitalised their top-four hopes.
Following the culmination of the games for the teams in the top-six, Arsenal still find themselves in sixth, but they are now just a single point behind Tottenham in fourth.
While the league title may be out of their reach with Manchester City 12 points clear, they are well and truly in the race for a Champions League berth, and their win over Tottenham will have given them a massive amount of confidence, while it will have silenced many of their critics too.
Following the win, Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin told the club’s official website: “There’s always a lot of talk but I think it was one of those games where we showed what we could do. We shut some mouth as well”.
“There are people who talk a lot and now, after watching that game at home, they’ll be thinking that these guys have a chance”.
Bellerin’s words echo the fact that they were able to silence many of their critics, and they will now be looking to utilise their momentum in the race for a top-four finish.
