A growing number of the British media report that Arsenal have determined their asking price for wantaway star forward Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean has been linked with a move away from the Emirates for quite some time although Arsenal Wenger has at the same time remained optimistic that Sanchez could have a sudden change of heart and sign a new deal with the Gunners.
The French boss was either unfamiliar with his sad-face posts, saddened photos and cryptic messages on social media or oblivious to his own inability to secure a new deal for the Arsenal star that he now risks losing it for free next summer.
However, with increasing number of reports – such as the ones coming from The Sun – that Arsenal are willing to accept £30 million for Sanchez during the January transfer market, the £60 million offer we got mad over this summer suddenly feels like a wasted chance.
Wenger was reluctant to let Sanchez leave to a direct Premier League rival – or that’s what we thought was the reason behind his decision to reject the Citizens’ approach – and is now likely to be forced to settle for half the price he could have bagged only months ago.
Manchester City now have a bargaining chip in their hands.
The Etihad outfit are said to be reluctant to pay a cent over £20 million for Alexis Sanchez this winter knowing that his contract will soon expire. And knowing they had been forced to wait a couple of months to be given another chance at his signature will make waiting for a couple of more month until the summer bearable.
The Chilean has not been at his best this season and scored his first Premier League goal of the current campaign against Everton on Sunday.
Sanchez watched Arsenal beat Norwich from the stands and ended up sending a cryptic message on Instagram following the win.
“The eyes are the window to the soul, they do not hide or lie.”, said the message.
Manchester City remain favourites to land Sanchez in January with 7/2 betting odds stacked in their favour.
