Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has heaped praise on Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the Manchester United player edges closer to a move to the London side in an exchange that would see Alexis Sanchez join up with Jose Mourinho’s team.
Alexis Sanchez’s protracted transfer has been one that has filled the back pages for some time. It was widely expected that the star would switch London for Manchester, but most assumed it would be Manchester City and not Manchester United.
However, Jose Mourinho’s team have since emerged as the favourites to sign him in this window. A move to United for Sanchez is widely expected to happen soon, and it will reportedly see Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to play at Arsenal.
The Armenian has found it difficult to break into Mourinho’s team this season and has found his chances curtailed. While the switch may not have been his own first choice, it will surely give him the chance to revive his Premier League career following a tough time at Old Trafford.
Indeed, the move is one that midfielder Granit Xhaka seems excited about, and he heaped praise on the attacking midfielder. The Sun reported that he said: “I read that in 2009 he said that he likes Arsenal. I’m sure the style of play here would suit him. Every player has their own qualities. He is a great footballer, so let’s just see what happens”.
“”It was tough to play against him. To be honest, I would rather have played alongside him. He is a player who is obviously very good and has lots of good qualities as well”.
Xhaka seems excited about the proposed switch, and perhaps the fans should be too. Mkhitaryan was superb for Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, and if he is given time and faith, perhaps he can refind that form once again.
