While we are unsure of who the next Arsenal boss will be, surely the next man in the Gunners dugout can harness the partnership between forwards Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
When I say partnership, it is not so much a partnership, as the pair do not start up front together. The idea is playing Aubameyang out wide and Lacazette up front. Both players are comfortable and productive in the positions.
Aubameyang considered a replacement for Lacazette
When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal in January after a fruitful spell at Dortmund, many thought that the Gabon international was arriving to replace Lacazette, who in all honesty has enjoyed a decent first season in the English top-flight.
Lacazette has been sidelined during Aubameyang’s time at the club, but at first, the new arrival did replace the Frenchman. However, when the pair has been on the pitch together they have looked like they have an understanding with each other.
It would be a waste not to play both players
Both players have proven that they can both score and produce assists at the top level of football, both in domestic and European action. It would be a waste of their talents for either to be sitting on the bench next season.
With a few crucial additions to the Gunners squad this summer in key positions, Arsenal could finish a lot higher than this season. Aubameyang and Lacazette are two of the Gunners better players. The next manager would do well to build around the pair.
Lacazette has scored 14 Premier League goals despite suffering from injury and having to compete with Aubameyang for a central striker role. Aubameyang has certainly hit the ground running in the English top-flight, scoring nine Premier League goals in just 12 appearances.
The new boss may have his views
With Arsene Wenger leaving the club after 22 years this summer, there is certainly an air of uncertainty and excitement over the man who will fill his shoes.
The next Arsenal boss may have his own ideas about players and may want to bring in his own players. Unfortunately, it is hard to see a major overhaul of the Gunners squad this summer.
However, with Lacazette and Aubameyang as attacking options, the new Gunners boss can look at strengthening in the problems areas of the team. The relationship between the pair could play a big part in the Gunners being more successful next season.
Will Aubameyang and Lacazette play a key role for Arsenal next season?
