While many fans are still mourning Jack Wilshere’s departure from Arsenal Football Club, manager Unai Emery has already moved onto the next phase of his plan to revolutionise the way in which the Gunners play football. That may sound a little bit overdramatic, but at the end of the day, the Spaniard has already made a series of changes that others would’ve taken months upon months to implement.
Anyway, regarding the subject matter of this article, it turns out that Emery values Welshman Aaron Ramsey a little bit more than we might’ve originally thought. He is hoping and expecting him to sign a new long-term deal with the club and moving forward, it seems as if he’ll be an integral part of the Gunners’ operation in the middle of the park.
Ramsey has certainly had a hot and cold career at the Emirates, going through several runs of inconsistency followed by seven or eight games where he looks like an absolute monster. Obviously, if he’s going to stay in the team then he’ll have to try and find his feet a little bit more regularly than he has done over the last few years because it seems like Emery is going to maintain a no-nonsense attitude throughout his reign at the club.
It’ll be interesting to see what this means for their dealings in the summer transfer window because now, the question is who will partner Ramsey on a week to week basis. There will likely be some rotation as is usually the case at this level, but considering that Fellaini has been thrown into the conversation quite a lot in the last few weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if there are any further developments with that from now until the end of August.
In terms of what’s happening on the pitch, Emery will be preparing for a tough start to life in England as Manchester City and Chelsea await in Arsenal’s first two Premier League games of the season. Many eyes will be on what kind of formation he plays and what his starting line-up looks like, and now, people will also be incredibly eager to see whether or not Ramsey can command and lead the midfield in the way that Emery is hoping.
