Reported Chelsea transfer target Kelechi Nwakali has revealed that his favourite English team is in fact Arsenal and not the Blues.
The youngster has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and also Manchester City, where his brother Chidiebere currently plies his trade. He has had a trial at City already and could join his brother in the Citizens academy.
However, it seems that City face opposition for the youngster’s signature, after he told Nigerian media: ‘I would love to play for Arsenal,’
‘They are their Premier League club I will like to play for them because they play the best football in the world.’
Nwakali has attracted the attention of the English clubs after starring in the recent under-17 World Cup. The Nigerian won the player of the tournament award, which could now mean a move to European football for the highly-rated star.
Arsenal are renowned to bringing through foreign youngsters into their first team, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin breaking through into the Arsenal first team after joining the club at a young age.
Chelsea and Manchester City have more of a reputation for attempting to buy the finished article, so if the Gunners were interested in the forward then they would most likely be his preferred destination.
