Arsenal midfielders Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could soon be ready to return into first team action, the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has moved to confirm.
The Emirates outfit play host to Crystal Palace this weekend, hoping to cement the third place in the standings, and there have been some very good news ahead of the clash against the Eagles.
Namely, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to resume full training next week.
“Next week they will be back maybe, they are not back in full training yet. They are still on fitness work,” Wenger said.
While they are unlikely to help Arsenal meet pre-season ambitions, both players will be eager to make at least a couple of appearances during the season finale as they still hope to make their respective Euro 2016 squads.
Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky will continue to build match fitness by playing for the Under-21 side, and they could be in contention for senior games from next week.
“Jack and Tomas are playing today for the under-21s. They have had no reaction from last Friday’s game and they look alright,” Wenger added.
While Rosicky is certain to make the Czech Republic squad for the Euro 2016 finals if he suffers no setbacks in the next month, the same cannot be said of Wilshere, who faces a race against time to win back his place in the England side.
Following some impressive performances in March friendlies, the Three Lions can be backed at 8/1 to lift the coveted trophy.
