Calls for Arsene Wenger’s head appear to be falling on deaf ears and as things stand at this point the Arsenal boss is likely to put pen to paper on a new two-year contract, despite a frustrating closure to the Premier League season.
The Gunners are coming off from a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Selhurst Park with their top-four chances sustaining a fresh blow in a game which saw plenty of first-team stars being slammed for their below-par performances.
With pressure piling up at Arsenal, the growing number of reports, like this one in the Mirror, is claiming that Wenger is prepared to ditch his traditionally reserved transfer policy in order to perform a summer overhaul which would involve five new players arriving in the total £200 million worth of transfers.
With the likes of Mesut Ozil, David Ospina, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Lucas Perez all linked with an exit, Wenger is expected to use the sale money to bolster his transfer kitty to new levels.
First name being linked with a move to the Emirates is Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and we already wrote about the talented shot stopper HERE.
Additionally, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney appears to be Wenger’s first pick for the left-back position with Kieran Gibbs’ place in the team up in the balance as well. Tierney has been in superb form this season for the Scottish champions and he is seen as a long-term solution for the position.
As far as the midfield is concerned, Moussa Dembele is another Celtic player linked with Arsenal. Dembele’s impressive performances in Scotland have alarmed half of Europe and Arsenal will face tough competition for his signature.
Alexandre Lazazette has once again emerged as a top target for Arsenal.
The French striker has announced he will be leaving Lyon at the ned of the season and Arsenal appear to be back in the race with a line of Europe’s biggest clubs. Lacazette bagged 30 goals for Lyon this season and could bring a valuable edge upfront.
Another attacking name linked with a move to the Emirates is Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.
The winger has excelled at Selhurst Park this season and is back to his best with 6 goals and 11 assists in 28 games this season to finally fulfil his bright potential.
Will Arsenal have a busy summer ahead of them?
