Arsenal travel to play Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend as two of England’s biggest clubs lock horns once again.
With Pep Guardiola guiding his side to a near-perfect start this campaign, Arsene Wenger will know that the majority of the pressure will be on the former-Barcelona manager’s shoulders.
Wenger, therefore, knows that a win would be massively surprising, and it would see the confidence of his side skyrocket.
Of course, beating Manchester City will be no easy task, with City in outstanding form of late. If Arsenal are to win the game then, their manager must be ruthless.
The Gunners have to be solid at the back with their three centre-halves vital, while their wing-backs must be both willing runners when going forward, while they must also be diligent in defence.
The talents of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette will provide a multi-faceted attack, but it is in their midfield that the battle could be lost.
Aaron Ramsey has been growing as a player this season, but his partner in Granit Xhaka is not the man to help anchor the midfield.
The Swiss international is a talented player on the ball, but he is not quick enough in body nor footballing-mind to play in Wenger’s midfield. Against Everton, Xhaka was the reason why Arsenal fell behind as he lost the ball in careless fashion.
Against Liverpool earlier in the season too, he was once again poor as he gave his defence no protection. Perhaps Wenger would be better off choosing a more athletic and defensively orientated player that will be intelligent on the ball and not take risks.
While Xhaka does have his place in the team, he may prove to be Arsenal’s Achilles heel if he is chosen for this weekend’s game.
