Arsenal reportedly want to exchange wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez for Manchester United Anthony Martial. The Chilean attacker has arisen as a reported main-target for United with Manchester City’s interest waning after the Gunners outlined their demands for the player.
Arsenal were forced to stomach a damaging loss at the hands of struggling Bournemouth on Sunday as their Premier League campaign took yet another body-blow. Hector Bellerin opened the scoring, but the visitors could not hold onto their lead as Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe struck to take all three points for the relegation-threatened side.
The Cherries have now moved up to 13th in the league with 24 points, four clear of the relegation zone, while Arsenal conceded more ground on those above them, with fourth-placed Liverpool and the final Champions League spot now eight points above them.
The absence of Alexis Sanchez was clearly felt as they side lacked any kind of attacking intent, with their forwards completely blunted by Bournemouth. It is clear that while Sanchez may leave in the transfer window, they will need a replacement for the Chilean.
Indeed, Arsenal are reportedly looking to part-exchange Sanchez for Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Mail. The deal would see Martial, who is already well-established in the Premier League switch allegiances, giving Arsene Wenger and his side a timely boost following a run of events that has seen Arsenal struggle both in league and cup competitions.
