Having completed a highly successful transfer window this winter, Arsenal are said to be preparing a summer plan that will see them continue to build upon the existing squad in order to create a team capable of competing for major honours next season.
The arrival of chief scout Sven Mislintant from Borussia Dortmund has seen Arsenal take a U-turn on their transfer philosophy and Gunners are once again imposing themselves as an attractive destination for world-class footballers, while they simultaneously attempt to round some of Europe’s most emerging talents.
Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic is exactly that kind of a player, being that Serbia international has emerged as the latest youngster to be linked with a move to the Emirates.
Portuguese media outlet Ojogo claims Gunners have sent scouts to watch the highly-rated starlet in action last weekend. Arsenal representatives were in attendance for Benfica’s compelling 5-1 victory over Rio Ave with Zivkovic playing the full 90 minutes.
Zivkovic has endured a mixed season with Benfica due to injury problems but the 21-year-old Serbia international used every opportunity he got to prove why he’s being considered one of the hottest prospects in European football.
Zivkovic scored one goal and grabbed two assists in just eight league appearances for Benfica this season, but the Serbian still managed to turn plenty of heads with his overall impressive displays characterised by great positioning, off-ball movement and an impressive skillset.
