North London club are expected to confirm their first summer signing imminently, according to the reports coming from the German media outlet Bild.
After more than a couple of weeks of intense speculation it became apparent that Gunners were closing in on Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac who is available on free transfer after his deal with Bundesliga outfit expired at the end of last season.
The 23-year-old has been constantly moved to and from Arsenal but the Bosnia international now looks set to be installed as Arsenal’s first summer signing. One of Schalke’s best players this season is expected to increase competition for places in Arsene Wenger’s newly-changed formation.
The Gunners have played both nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs in a new system which involves three-man defence line, which is said to suit Kolasinac perfectly.
The Bosnian international is a player who boasts significant defensive qualities, but often takes part in attack with his piercing strides down the touchline. The 23-year-old will definitely be an upgrade to Arsenal’s current squad and an improvement to out-of-form Gibbs and ageing Monreal.
The aforementioned Bild claims the deal is completed, adding that Kolasinac will be earning €8.5 million.
Bild does not offer an exact timestamp as to when the Kolasinac deal will be made public, but insists Arsenal are about to confirm the first summer signing imminently.
