Mesut Ozil is reportedly eyeing up a switch to Premier League rivals Manchester United as the German midfielder looks to leave Arsenal to link back up with manager Jose Mourinho.
Arsenal were held to their second draw in two games as West Ham clung on to claim another point, meaning they have taken four points from their last two games against Chelsea and Arsenal.
The draw followed a 1-1 stalemate with Southampton last Sunday, and it has seen Arsenal lose even more ground on those above them. The Gunners are now in seventh-place in the league with 31 points, one behind Tottenham in fourth. While a single win could see Arsenal jump from seventh to fourth, Wenger will be very aware of the competition in the league, with Tottenham, Liverpool and Burnley all vying for fourth.
One player that could be vital to their fortunes this season is Mesut Ozil, with the German at times outstanding. However, it has been reported that the player is eyeing up a switch to rivals Manchester United.
The Mail Online have reported that “Ozil wants closer to £300,000 and Jose Mourinho has been watching his situation closely as the United boss plans an overhaul at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old would be open to a reunion with his old Real Madrid boss”.
While this may just be noise, Arsenal will be a weaker team without the playmaker, who has been in much better form recently. While he has had his rough patches in an Arsenal shirt, the fans will not want to see him leave, and they will feel even more aggrieved if they are to lose him to their bitter-rivals Manchester United.
