Arsenal sign Mesut Ozil on deadline day

Posted on September 03, 2013 by Crippy Cooke

Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger pulled off the shock coup of deadline day in signing Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.

The German attacking midfielder, 24, signed for the Gunners in a deal said to be worth around £42.4M (€50M).

Last season, Ozil made 16 assists in 32 La Liga games – scoring nine goals. He’s regarded as one of the top-5 playmakers in the world, and many are stunned how Arsenal managed to procure the signature of a genuine world-class player.

Supporters are rejoicing that manager Arsene Wenger has finally spent big to strengthen the side, and they are now licking their lips in anticipation to see Ozil in action for Arsenal.

The 24-year old has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal and released a statement thanking the Real Madrid fans for the ongoing supporter during his time in Spain. He revealed how excited he was to be starting a new chapter in England, and how he hopes to lead the side to glory.

Ozil’s arrival was the fourth transfer deal for the London outfit this summer. Former Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo, and ex-AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini joined on a free transfer, and goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano signed for Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Palermo.

If you go to Arsenal.com and you see the players list, you will say that we have depth now, that’s for sure !
I will tae off the players that are there just to make numbers like Frimpong, Ryo, Park and Bendtener
We have 23 players which is perfect to manage the Schedule. And Damn, we have options now.
We can play 442 or 4231 or 4132 or 433 or whatever you want depending on the oposition and the score …
Our midfield now is really dangerous, I mean what can you do if you have a trio of masters like Ozil, Cazorla and Rosiscky, which one you will mark!! I am not even talking about Ramsey and Wishere (who can play as DM or AM) and boys we have Flamini who wil break every thing. andYes I would loved to have a new striker but with the midfield w have we can cnsider tht we have 3 CF in Giroud, Pod and Walcott. Damn, I forgot the Ox. I will stop here. I a just too excited and I really think that we havea chance this year… Gooner 4 ever.
