Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger pulled off the shock coup of deadline day in signing Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The German attacking midfielder, 24, signed for the Gunners in a deal said to be worth around £42.4M (€50M).
Last season, Ozil made 16 assists in 32 La Liga games – scoring nine goals. He’s regarded as one of the top-5 playmakers in the world, and many are stunned how Arsenal managed to procure the signature of a genuine world-class player.
Supporters are rejoicing that manager Arsene Wenger has finally spent big to strengthen the side, and they are now licking their lips in anticipation to see Ozil in action for Arsenal.
The 24-year old has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal and released a statement thanking the Real Madrid fans for the ongoing supporter during his time in Spain. He revealed how excited he was to be starting a new chapter in England, and how he hopes to lead the side to glory.
Ozil’s arrival was the fourth transfer deal for the London outfit this summer. Former Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo, and ex-AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini joined on a free transfer, and goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano signed for Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Palermo.
