According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are willing to sell midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer, but only for the right price. The English international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium as a result of a lack of playing time, and West Ham United are reportedly leading the race for his signature.
Wilshere has been rated at £20m by Arsenal but has been subject of a £6.5m bid from Italian Serie A side Sampdoria, which is believed to have been rejected. The playmaker is out of contract next summer so Arsenal will be forced to either sell him or extend his stay.
It looks more likely Wilshere will be sold for a fee in excess of £10m. The 25-year-old spent last season out on loan with Bournemouth but saw his time in the South Coast end prematurely through injury. It’s been a constant theme of his playing career and something that could be costing him a future at Arsenal.
Wilshere would certainly leave the club with a heavy heart, but his loan spell away was surely an indicator that opportunities wouldn’t be coming his way for the Gunners anymore. Manager Arsene Wenger has long been a fan of the Englishman but has conceded defeat given the lack of starts for Arsenal in recent seasons.
