Growing reports that German midfielder Mesut Ozil is on his way out of Arsenal and to his former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United have forced Gunners to make plans in order to replace the influential midfielder.
Mesut Ozil is not getting any closer to signing a new contract extension at the Emirates and it was the Independent who reported that Manchester United are confident of landing the World Cup winner on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Ozil’s departure would leave a gaping hole in Arsenal’s attacking midfielder position and Arsene Wenger will be forced to make a move in the market to find a proper replacement for his team’s biggest star.
Hitting the headlines once again is Arda Turan, the Barcelona creative midfielder who has already been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past. The Turkish international was close to joining Gunners before he came to Camp Nou and the North London club is said to be one of his preferred destinations.
Turan has struggled at Barcelona ever since his move in 2015/16 and has fallen down the pecking order with Ernesto Valverde. The 30-year-old Turkish international started the new La Liga season injured, while he was not part of the squad in his team’s last four league matches despite recovering from his problem.
Turan played a part in his nation’s 3-0 loss to Iceland last week and will be eager to make his presence known with the Barcelona manager.
However, the reports coming from AS last week have it that the 30-year-old is well-aware of his situation and is prepared to reevaluate his options in January. Turan is unhappy with his lack of minutes at Barcelona and is ready to move elsewhere to get his career back on track.
The 100-cap Turkish international has once again alarmed Arsenal who are believed to be leading the race for his signature, the CNN Turkey has learned.
