If reports from Spanish media outlet Marca are to be believed, Arsenal are interested in PSV Eindhoven striker Hirving Lozano.
The Spanish news outlet is suggesting Gunners have identified the Mexico international as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is edging closer to Arsenal exit.
The Chilean superstar is nearing an end to his contract with the north London club and could be allowed to leave during the January transfer window as Arsene Wenger hopes to avoid losing one of his key men for free next summer.
Manchester City remain the frontrunners for the Chilean’s signature having failed to land him on transfer Deadline Day and can be found at 6/1 betting odds to move to Etihad before February 3 when the winter window closes.
Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed their interest in signing the Chilean who is said to have been offered a huge sing-on fee in order to come to Parc des Princes at the end of the current season.
At this point, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will be able to convince their key man to sign a new deal and the club management is understood to be considering options.
The Gunners are reportedly prepared to offer £22.4 million for Hirving Lozano who has made a brilliant start to his career in the Netherlands with six goals in as many league matches. Lozano has also provided four assists for PSV in the Eredivisie and has been hugely influential in his team’s campaign thus far.
Lozano only joined PSV Eindhoven from Pachuca this summer and the Dutch side are unlikely to let go of him that easily given the fact they are in no rush to sell a player who is under a six-year contract with the club.
Lozano continued his impressive run of form at international level having scored a goal in each of Mexico’s last World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Trinidad and Tobago.
