According to the Guardian, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this summer to add pace to wide options. A reported asking price of £44million is likely to scupper any interest, though.
As we all know, reported Arsenal have had a limited budget to spend on new arrivals this summer and have already spent it on signing the likes of Bernd Leno, Sokratis and Lucas Torreira, while adding Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free.
A good collection of silverware
Kingsley Coman is obviously a talented young player, with a promising future. The fact that he has already represented PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich at 22-years of age is a sign that is he not a terrible player that is for sure.
Amazingly, despite not quite reaching his potential the youngster has won two title-winning medals in France with PSG, one in Italy with Juventus and three in Germany with Bayern Munich.
A Premier League winner’s medal with Arsenal would seem unlikely, in the near future anyway. The chance to play in the Premier League with a big club would maybe appeal to the winger.
Emery still open to the possibility of signing one more player
Arsenal boss Emery has stated that he is still open to bringing one more addition. However, the Spaniard has stated that the north London club has strengthened in the positions that they needed to this summer and the squad is complete.
He did say that if a big opportunity arose, then the Gunners would still be interested in adding to their squad. In reality, it seems unlikely that the north London club are going to splash out the mooted £44million on Coman after a summer of spending very little by Premier League standards.
Gunners look more likely to sell than buy
Arsenal looks more likely to move players on this summer than make any new signings. The likes of Davis Ospina, Danny Welbeck and Petr Cech have all been linked with a move this summer.
It looks inevitable that one of the two goalkeepers will move on, while Welbeck is in the final year of his contract in North London, so the Gunners may be looking to recoup some money from his sale.
Unai Emery has managed to strengthen the Arsenal squad in the current transfer window. However, only time will tell if the Gunners have recruited enough quality to gatecrash the top-four in the new season.
Is Kingsley Coman a realistic transfer target for Arsenal?
